Kennedys continues Legal 500 success with 2023 EMEA rankings

We are pleased to announce that the firm have obtained yet another set of impressive results this week in The Legal 500 EMEA 2023.

Kennedys received a total of 17 practice area rankings from across the firm’s EMEA offices, including two new mentions as a ‘Firm to Watch’ in ‘Commercial, Corporate and M&A’ (United Arab Emirates) and ‘Dispute Resolution’ (Oman). In addition, 37 Kennedys lawyers have been ranked/recommended within the guide this year, with two Kennedys partners listed in the elite Hall of Fame and nine partners named as Leading Individuals.

Kennedys sets itself apart by its highly specialised individuals and their sector knowledge.

In Belgium, we have been reconfirmed as Tier 1 for ‘Aviation’ and Tier 3 for ‘Industry focus – Transport’. The team also received some significant new accolades, with partner Dimitri de Bournonville listed for the first time into the elite Hall of Fame for ‘Aviation’ (which recognises lawyers at the pinnacle of their profession), and named a Leading Individual in ‘Transportation’. Senior associate Dries Deschuttere, was also awarded a new Rising Star ranking for ‘Aviation’ and ‘Transportation’.

In Denmark, partner Morten Christensen, has once again been recognised as a Leading Individual for 'Insurance', and praised by one client in particular as a “charismatic, highly engaged, and approachable lawyer who finds solutions to the most complex challenges”. The team has also been recognised as top-tier in ‘Insurance’ for the fourth consecutive year.

Our Paris office has maintained Tier 2 rankings in ‘Aviation’ and ‘Insurance’, with the team praised for “providing good analysis of complex insurance law issues”. Further, Alexis Valençon was ranked for the third consecutive year as a Leading Individual in ‘Insurance’, with one client describing him as an “excellent lawyer who works diligently for his clients”, and Nicolas Bouckaert has been recognised as a Next Generation Partner.

As specialists in the insurance industry, Kennedys is particularly well regarded for its contentious expertise in this space.

In Ireland, the office maintained its rankings in four practice areas - Tier 2 for ‘Insurance’ and ‘Healthcare and Life Sciences’, and Tier 3 for ‘Dispute Resolution’ and ‘Transport’. Partner Hugh Kennedy, who leads the transport team, has once again been listed in the Hall of Fame and noted for his “efficient and effective advice for a fast-moving commercial practice”, whilst Shanna Dunne, senior associate in Dublin’s healthcare team, has been named a Rising Star for the second consecutive year.

In Israel, the team were praised for its “professional service adapted to the Israeli market in combination with international experience” and have maintained their Tier 1 ranking for ‘Insurance’. Both Chaim Zelichov and Zvika Zelichov have received personal accolades and are reaffirmed as Leading Individuals for the third year in a row.

Achieving a Tier 1 ranking for 'Insurance' for the third consecutive year, the Madrid office were praised for their “full availability, commitment, excellent professionalism and attention to technical detail”. All partners Olivia DelagrangeAlfonso De Ramos and Isidoro Ugena maintained their rankings as Leading Individuals in ‘Insurance’, with senior associate Alicia Fole being recognised as a Rising Star. In addition, Olivia Delagrange has also been recognised as a Leading Individual for ‘Transport: Shipping’ alongside legal director Jose Pellicer and senior associate Marta Parrondo, whilst Paula Petit has been recognised once again as a Rising Star.

In other notable developments this year, Kennedys Dubai office has been promoted to Tier 1 for ‘Insurance’ in United Arab Emirates, and partner Peter Ellingham has been named for the first time as a Leading Individual. Legal director Rishi Sengupta has also been recognised again this year as a Rising Star, and praised for his ability “to convey technical legal matters simply and effectively”.
