Profile

Alex qualified as a lawyer in Spain in 1999 and in England and Wales in 2003. He joined Kennedys London office in 2004 and soon thereafter set up the Madrid office in 2005. Alex relocated to the US in 2010 whereupon Alex became a Foreign Legal Consultant (Not Admitted to Practice Law in Florida).

Due to his English and Spanish qualifications, Alex is well placed to act as a trusted advisor to the London and Iberian Markets.

He has significant experience handling large and complex losses, and disputes on behalf of leading international insurers and (re)insurers involving major property and energy losses, complex liability, environmental and natural disasters, CAR, surety, political and trade risk, financial institutions and D&O claims, cyber, regulatory compliance and third party administration schemes.

Alex frequently speaks at in-house carrier seminars and training workshops, and has developed several notable industry and recognized  industry events.

Alex works indistinctively in English and Spanish, and is conversational in Portuguese and French.

Alex contributed to Kennedys' 'Global forecast 2024: Evolving insurance risks' report, published in January 2024. Alex also contributed to the fourth edition of Kennedys’ Global Legal Handbook, one of our most popular guides, which outlines the main legal and procedural issues that case handlers may encounter when dealing with claims across multiple jurisdictions globally. He also conceived and championed the several editions of Kennedys’ regional Guide and authored chapters related to his practice.

Alex regularly volunteers at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Miami where he seats at the Board of Trustees and Financial Council.  He is an avid kayaker and snorkler in the Florida Keys.
